The MTS Group, owner of the
Chaffoteaux & Maury brand name, is the leading world manufacturer
of unvented water heating products with more than 50 years experience.
Continuous research into new technology and design ensures that
quality and reliability remain at a high standard. Every detail
of water heater production is controlled by qualified personnel,
using the latest technology, quality materials, and continuous
testing throughout the production cycle. By applying such stringent
conditions, the MTS Group has attained ISO 9001 Corporate Certification,
“joining a few elite companies within the EU to achieve
this Award”. These unvented products provide a versatile
alternative to the traditional systems installed in the UK.
Chaffoteaux & Maury offers a comprehensive range, both directly
and indirectly heated, to suit most applications and can provide
sizes from 125 to 300 litres capacity.
United Kingdom practice for domestic hot water storage and supply
systems was to have an open vent pipe from the hot water storage
vessel back to the cistern. Simpler, unvented systems had been
developed and used widely throughout the rest of Europe, and
indeed the rest of the world. Since the 1985 Building Regulations
and the new Model Water Byelaws of 1986, unvented systems have
been permitted in the UK. |

Advantages of an unvented
system |
 |
Hot and cold water supply
to all outlets at relatively high pressure |
 |
Drinking water at all cold water
outlets, as every cold outlet is fed directly from the
mains supply. |
 |
Balanced hot and cold water supply
pressures throughout the system - wider choice taps and
mixers. |
 |
Good shower flow and force without
the need for pumps. |
 |
No cistern in the loft - no risk
of water stagnation (and legionella), no risk of frost
damage to pipework and no noise of filling cisterns. |
 |
Lower insurance premiums due to
the absence of stored water in the loft. |
 |
Unvented systems comply with all
current building regulations in the UK. |
 |
Simpler plumbing system - less pipework,
less time, less cost. |
